mahisuran the devil created more problems to the world so to make him immobile durgamman made efforts to kill her with her sword.so it took 9 days to get the power to kill her and in the 10th day she killed him and and made the people to be free. so people in this world celebrate this day as navratri.they keep durga statues to make the people remember this ospisious day.
